Circle Skirt Calculator

How the Circle Skirt Calculator works

Formula. Waist radius = waist / (2π). Total radius = waist radius + skirt length. Fabric width = total radius × 2. A half circle multiplies the fabric length by 0.5 and a quarter circle by 0.25. Yards = fabric length / 36.

Example. A 30 inch waist and a 20 inch full-circle length has waist radius 30 / (2π) = 4.77 inches. Total radius is 24.77 inches, fabric width and length are 49.5 inches, and yards are 49.5 / 36 = 1.38.

Limitation. The yardage is one rectangle of that size. It does not add seam allowance or extra fabric for a waistband.
