How the Wedding Alcohol Calculator works

Formula. Total drinks = guests × hours × 1.5. Beer 12-packs = ceil(total drinks × 0.4 / 12). Wine bottles = ceil(total drinks × 0.3 / 5). Liquor bottles = ceil(total drinks × 0.3 / 16).

Example. 100 guests for 4 hours is 100 × 4 × 1.5 = 600 drinks. Beer is ceil(600 × 0.4 / 12) = 20 twelve-packs. Wine is ceil(600 × 0.3 / 5) = 36 bottles. Liquor is ceil(600 × 0.3 / 16) = 12 bottles.

Limitation. The 1.5 drinks per guest-hour and the 40/30/30 split are fixed. The page does not adjust for a dry bar or a different mix of drinks.
